A fake Booking hotel page asks you to confirm a reservation and verify your card
Website Impersonation
Who may be targeted: People booking hotel stays who receive a link asking them to confirm a reservation or verify their card. The page we saw showed prices in Colombian pesos.
What we are seeing
A page copying Booking's checkout asks you to verify your card to confirm a hotel reservation. A chat posing as Booking support says your bank may send a confirmation code. That code can approve a payment. Do not enter card details, and never pass a code on.
Warning signs
- The web address is not Booking's own. The page we saw used guestnew-booking[.]com.
- It says your card has to be verified before the booking is confirmed. Confirming a real booking does not need this.
- A chat window claiming to be Booking customer support tells you to stay on the page while it processes.
- It warns that leaving the page may cancel your reservation, so you feel you cannot stop.
- It tells you in advance that your bank may send a confirmation code.
- Your name is already filled in, which makes the page feel personal and genuine.
- It pushes you to hurry, saying hotels like this are already unavailable.
